The Lincoln Academy
Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps
The Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) is more than just a program—it’s an opportunity to grow into a confident, disciplined, and capable leader. Sponsored by the United States Navy, NJROTC is offered in high schools across the country to help students build skills that last a lifetime. While it has a military connection, the program is not just about preparing students for the armed forces; it’s about preparing them for success in life, whether in college, a career, or civic leadership.

NJROTC gives students a unique combination of education, leadership, and adventure. In the classroom, cadets explore topics like naval history, maritime science, oceanography, navigation, leadership principles, and even current events and national security. These lessons aren’t just theoretical—they connect directly to real-world skills. Cadets learn critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork while developing a deeper understanding of how the world works and how they can make a difference.

Leadership is at the
heart of NJROTC
Cadets are placed in a chain of command where they take on roles and responsibilities similar to those in the military. As students advance, they gain the chance to lead teams, organize events, mentor younger cadets, and make decisions that affect the entire unit. This hands-on leadership experience is invaluable, giving cadets the confidence and skills to succeed in school, work, and future endeavors.
Activities
Outside the classroom, NJROTC is action-packed and engaging. Cadets participate in drills, inspections, and physical fitness activities that promote health, confidence, and discipline. These activities teach focus, perseverance, and resilience - all skills that are valuable in every aspect of life.

NJROTC is an opportunity to grow as a person while having fun and making friends!
Participation develops leadership, character, and resilience in ways that will benefit cadets for the rest of their lives. Whether you're looking to serve in the military, excel in college, or become a community leader, NJROTC gives you the tools, experience, and confidence to succeed. By joining NJROTC, scholars don't just learn about the Navy - they learn how to become the best version of themselves.

Focus on community
and service
Cadets actively contribute to TLA and the surrounding community through volunteering, participating in parades, organizing charity events, and supporting local programs. These experiences build a sense of pride, responsibility, and connection to the community - qualities that set NJROTC cadets apart.

NJROTC teaches scholars to carry themselves with pride, discipline, and professionalism. Cadets wear naval-style uniforms and learn military customs that reinforce respect, attention to detail, and teamwork. This structured environment creates a supportive and motivating space where scholars can challenge themselves, set goals, and achieve more than they thought possible.
